Precautions Against the Power of Nature

With the seemingly increasing strength of storms coming through this area in the past four years or so, it makes me wonder if this is going to be a consistent trend where we see super cells more often than not or if we’re just in a period of strange weather fluctuations. Already I have had to call a roofing contractor in Manhattan NY twice this year alone – once because of a storm knocking off shingling from the roof and another time because of the impact damage that it received thanks to a serious hail storm that blew through here recently.

I can’t say for certain that what I am noticing is any kind of fact but it seems to me that we’re having more powerful periods of Winter, too. Just take the ice storms that are happening every year for the past three years alone. Throw a Polar Vortex on top of that, something that hasn’t happened in multiple generations for the United States, and you start wondering if it isn’t going to be soon necessary to take extra precautions against weather damage for our homes. Personally, I am going to do just that. It’s better to be prepared than not.

I’ve worked for years and put a lot of money into this house. The last thing that I want to happen is to have it fall apart around my ears because I wasn’t smart enough to take the necessary steps to protect it against lasting harm. I think I will begin ramping up the annual inspections more frequently, like after every season, so I can feel better about the next. A year of storms and winter weather is enough for any house when they’re just ‘average’ in strength but if this trend continues, I think we’ll be in a lot of trouble.
